The term "stacking" is used to describe a significant shared water flow out of a tub/shower system during normal operation (Note: This symptom is unique to tub/showers). When the system is turned on you'll notice a steady stream of water coming out of the showerhead while the tub is filling below. The symptom is generally found in new7 Mar 2019. #2. 1. If it is dripping with both taps in the off position, then one of the cartridges is letting water past. 2. Probably best to replace both cartridges at once. 3. Turn hot and cold water off before changing. Hopefully, isolation valves fitted in an accessible position. Step 1. Turn off the hot and cold water supply to the shower. Some shower faucets have water shutoff valves built into the faucet body; you turn the valves with a screwdriver to shut off the water flow from the hot and cold supply tubes into the faucet body. Carefully have the shower head removed by unscrewing it counterclockwise. Step 2. Disassemble the tap. Use a screwdriver or allen key to remove the tap handle. Depending on the type of tap, you may need to remove a decorative cap or cover to access the screw. Once the handle is off, you’ll see the valve or cartridge assembly. Step 3. When replacing a shower faucet, take off the shower head by turning the connecting nut counterclockwise with a pair of pliers. Faucet handles can be removed in different ways. Some have a cover plate, which can be pried off with a small screwdriver. Others, like the one featured in this video, have a small set screw somewhere on the handle. ARL5X.
