My 640 Adventure has the supposed "comfort" seat and it is a bit more cushy than the pre '03 seats, but after 300 miles, not by much. You almost need, and this is really a pink thigh item, two seats, one for the times when you doin' it in the dirt and one for the slab.
You can modify your seat for about an 1" or 2" max. You can have the suspension professionally modified as well. I would guess that the majority here will tell you to learn to ride it as is.
